  • Change Management Course for Administrators & LEA Directors (mandatory)

    One of the expectations of SB 127, Early Literacy Outcomes Improvement, is that all elementary principals, elementary principal supervisors, LEA Literacy Directors and a member of LEA Leadership participate in a change management course.

    The USBE has arranged a change management cohort for all required personnel in JSD beginning in February 2026. Required participants will be pre-registered by their AOS for this cohort.

    Please schedule the following dates in your calendar:

    - February 19, 2026 - Required full day, in person general session - location TBD
    - March 10th OR March 17th, 2026 - Choice of an AM or PM professional learning virtual sessions
    - March, April, August or September 2026 for Collaborative Coaching sessions

    There will also be several additional required virtual refresher sessions during 2027. We should receive these dates and times at our first in person general session.

    School administrators are responsible for making sure relevant teachers get trained in the Utah Aspire Plus test administration. Should school administrators choose to hold a training at their schools, this fulfills the training requirement. There are two other training options available:

    The Utah Aspire Plus test administration training requirement can be fulfilled by completing the Canvas course online. Teachers can self-enroll in the course UT Aspire Plus Summative Test Administration Training.

    Access to the course will be available starting on February 2, 2026. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of the course.

    • Student Participation: Each school is allowed to send up to 60 students.
    • Supervision: Each school must ensure sufficient adult supervision, with a minimum of one adult chaperone per 30 students.
    • Funding: School-based budgets will cover the cost of substitute teachers (if needed), while the Teaching and Learning Department will handle busing fees.

    Action Required:

    1. Google Form Submission: To participate, complete the attached Google Form by October 15, 2025.
    2. Transportation Request: Your school’s administrative assistant should submit a transportation request via Skyward. Include the number of teachers and chaperones in your school's final count. Ensure your bus request includes the correct group name (e.g., South Hills, 115 Curr) to facilitate coverage of the bus fee by the Teaching and Learning Department.

    The Special Education Department is pleased to announce upcoming training sessions for school-based teams. Content for this training mirrors the training delivered during the January 2026 Principal’s meeting, adapted for team-wide participation. To foster maximum collaboration, we strongly encourage entire teams—including Licensed Special Education Teachers, School Psychologists, and Instructional Assistants—to attend the session together. Principals are welcome to join with their team.

    Please note that part-time Instructional Assistants will be compensated for their participation through a JSD Timesheet.

    T & L will pay registration fees for up to three individuals from each school to attend the Literacy Promise Conference held on March 12-13, 2026. This can include administration, coaches, or teachers. Schools are not required to participate or may choose to send fewer than three individuals. Responses will be accepted through March 4th. If your school would like to send more than three individuals, registration can also be done at the school or individual level using the QR link on the enclosed flyer. Schools are responsible for substitute costs as needed.

    The conference is March 12-13, 2026 at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah.

    T & L will pay registration fees for up to three individuals from each school to attend the Literacy Promise Conference held on March 12-13, 2026. This can include administration, coaches, or teachers. Schools are not required to participate or may choose to send fewer than three individuals. Responses will be accepted through March 4th. Please click on the link below and fill out the form to list the individuals who will be paid through T&L. If your school would like to send more than three individuals, registration can also be done at the school or individual level using the QR link on the enclosed flyer. Schools are responsible for substitute costs as needed.

    The conference is March 12-13, 2026 at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah.

    Please make sure you complete the yearly Utah Aspire Plus test administration training. Only teachers who will administer the Utah Aspire Plus test need to be trained. For your reference, here is a link to the Testing Ethics Policy.

    School administrators are responsible for making sure relevant teachers get trained in the Utah Aspire Plus test administration. Should school administrators choose to hold a training at their schools, this fulfills the training requirement. There are two other training options available:

    Utah Aspire Plus Canvas Course
    The Utah Aspire Plus test administration training requirement can be fulfilled by completing the Canvas course online. Teachers can self-enroll in the course UT Aspire Plus Summative Test Administration Training.

    Access to the course will be available starting on February 2, 2026. A certificate of completion will be available for download at the end of the course.

    Zoom Utah Aspire Plus Training

    One of the expectations of SB 127, Early Literacy Outcomes Improvement, is that all elementary principals, elementary principal supervisors, LEA Literacy Directors and a member of LEA Leadership participate in a change management course.

    The USBE has arranged a change management cohort for all required personnel in JSD beginning in February 2026. Required participants will be pre-registered by their AOS for this cohort.

    Please choose from the following virtual sessions:

    - March 10th OR March 17th, 2026 - Choice of an AM or PM professional learning virtual sessions

    There will also be several additional required virtual refresher sessions during 2027. We should receive these dates and times at our first in person general session.
